Here's the third week of birds! Unfortunately one day, and with that the Little bittern, had to be skipped due to work. However, I tried to make up for it on the next day with a coloured Hadada ibis. After two more herons we venture away from these pretty birds and continue on with their relatives, the ibises and spoonbills.

There are some stunners out there; although I coloured the Hadada because of their beautiful iridescent green wing patches, the Glossy ibis (as their name might suggest) is even more glamorous. Their whole wing shines in coppery oil colours, their breasts are a deep red brown in breeding plumage, and their head has a dusting of gold shimmers. Fantastic birds.

I'm very pleased with how the Green-backed herons turned out. I properly sat down for them and spent a good deal of time on every sketch. I also had so much fun with the spoonbill and even though none of the Glossy ibis' colours show here, they were wonderful to look at while drawing :)

All photos from the Internet Bird Collection ibc.lynxeds.com/ Except for a few of the Least bittern - IBC had so few pictures I had to venture out to public domain images and a few from flickr.
