"Far away, far away,
in a land where the sun will never rise.
Far away, away,
in a place with marmelade skies.

Far away, far away,
in a place where the sun will hide its eyes.
Far away, far away,
in a place with marmelade skies.

All alone she moves,
into a broken paradise surrounded by the coloured lights.
All alone she moves,
into a paradise without day and without night.
"

'Far away' by Alle Farben: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d5xud…

Got inspired by this song I heard on the radio in Ibiza :) I think a desert during a sandstorm is one of the few places on Earth where the skies are indeed marmelade in colour.

I hope that you enjoyed your days in Ibiza :D

Thank you! Gemsboks, Nyalas and Bongos certainly are some of my favourites as well, though I have to say Greater kudus, Bushbucks and Black-faced impalas are definitely amongst them as well :) I certainly did, we had great weather and beautiful diving - saw Barracudas, Nudibranches, lots of starfish, octopuses, even a pair of trevallies and a whole school of Fried egg jellyfish! Also made friends with a whole group of wall lizards, never thought that would happen.

I think you can not list everyone, but these are definitely on the list too :)
Glad you enjoyed the trip, I think so far I just went on beaches were polluted, remember the last time I was on the beach I found a dead Magellanic Penguin, although the death of penguins that arrive here are generally by illness or fatigue :(
these lizards wall remind me of some ground lizards (genus Tropidurus) that are common to be seen on rocks and walls :)
Today when I arrived at school I rescued a baby gecko (tropical house gecko) that was on the hallway floor :)

That's really unfortunate, to find such polluted beaches. Always a shame to find rubbish lying around in nature. Quite special to find a Magellanic penguin though - they live much further south usually, right?

Great job on rescuing the gecko! They're such darling lizards, you have them in the mediterranean as well. They're usually very shy but once there was a baby gecko in our hotel room. Moved quick as lightning, almost impossible to catch haha :)

Yes Magellanic penguins nest mainly in Patagonia and Argentina.
When the juveniles starts to swim in the open sea, they're often carried by maritime currents and eventually reach our shores.
Geckos are amazing! the tropical house gecko is native to africa, and has the incredible ability to change color according to the environment, he seems to recognize light and dark environments :D i think that mediterranean geckos can do that too.
On colder days it is common to find them indoors, and that's good because they feed on insects and spiders that appear. The exception is the Brazilian wandering spider that are also found indoors and can prey on them :)

Stunning! I don't know how gemsbok (and other critters) handle that climate. Adaptations are amazing.

Thank you! It's indeed amazing how even large animals like that manage to scrape out a living in the desert, withstanding even the sand-blasting storms :)

Thanks! Sandstorms while horrible for those trapped within it do indeed provide quite the atmosphere :D

Thank you! I'd actually thought of making some animation with this song but then decided against it because it's inevitably going to take forever and will never be finished. I'm glad you like it :)

This might be an odd question, since I've only seen your art including animals, but can/do you do people?

Well, I do try drawing humans sometimes but it's usually more of a battle between me and human anatomy than actually drawing. Human anatomy will win most battles, I will almost win some, and on a handful of odd occasions I'll suddenly make this really nice human.. only to fail again on the next try. So it's really a trying subject for me at the moment but I definitely want to practice more so I can properly draw them too :) Currently no human drawings really make it to my gallery here on dA yet lol

I was asking because I've trying to find someone to do design concepts for a few of the human characters in a novel I'm working on, and maybe a cover design after. I have the animal characters designed, but alwas lIke seeing how other people do them, too.

Oh wow, that sounds really interesting. Awesome that you're writing a novel! Could you tell what it's about a little bit or is it all supposed to stay secret? :) I'm afraid I'm not the person for concept arts though (if that wasn't obvious already : p) but I do hope you'll find someone a bit more skilled in the human form!

I actually have all the chapters in my gallery, plus written character refs. I haven't quite figured out the best way to describe it, but it's a fantasy novel.

If you know anyone who can or might be interested that would be great too :)

I wish I could draw so realistic, too.
I still try and learn but I´m far not as good as you. =)
