For 2016 I decided to finally set down a proper plan for artistic improvement. In this case, it meant setting up a 'challenge' to draw a different bird species every day. Why birds? Because they're amazing, and beautiful, diverse enough to amaze but not too diverse to halt the human mind. And I want to get better at them, be able to reasonably sketch them like I can cetaceans. And who knows, if I really get bored I can always throw in some land-based mammals, fish or reptiles for variety. But until then, here's to the aves.
I started on the third of January, so here is the first full week of daily birds. I really hope you enjoy them! Other than these studies I haven't had the time to work on any other pieces in the first ten days of the new year. For the following birds, would you like to see them appear every day as I draw them, or do you prefer bulk uploads in the weekends? Let me know!

I once had a similar challenge, a bird species a week; it lasted two weeks.
