A bird species a day - Week 5

After the the Killer whale ecotype poster, we still have some late birds to catch up with This is week 5 already. No birds missed and most of the reference photos used are my own, which is something I'm really happy about. I'll try and continue to do so, for as far as I have photos of the coming species. I loved this week, there were some awesome and interesting birds in here, some of which I got to see in the wild in Kenya myself, so that was great. The Saddle-billed storks (which I unfortunately have only seen in the zoo) and Greater flamingoes (idem) are some of my favourite birds overall, so double the fun drawing them. I hope you guys will enjoy too!

Another fun fact about the Yellow-billed stork which I unfortunately couldn't fit in there: in Dutch these guys are called 'Nimmerzat' which means something like 'Never fed up (with something)', probably referring to their incredibly patient way of fishing. They literally just stand by the water's edge for hours on end, waiting for something to blunder into their mouth.

Week 6 will be postponed for a bit, things are just too busy for me right now to also illustrate a bird every day.
